Madden NFL 09 is the 2009 edition of the football video game series published by EA Sports. It will be the 19th installment in the Madden NFL video game franchise. You can purchase this game for the Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii, Xbox 360 and Xbox consoles. The Wii version of the game is titled Madden NFL 09 All-Play and will be launched under EA Sports' new All-Play brand exclusive to the platform. You can play the demo of the game on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

- Revamped Franchise Mode: take your team into a 30 year long franchise, call the shots like you're the VP of football operations for the team, make trades, sign players, etc.
- Revamped Superstar Mode: create a player, import a player from NCAA Football 09, or be a rookie from the 2008 draft class and play for the team you got drafted for to become a superstar.
- Virtual Trainer: new interactive tutorial mode that allows players train in a holographic environment and go through 12 different drills that grant them a "Madden IQ" based on their success.
- My Skills: Instead of standard difficulty levels, the game will now adapt to your own skill level. As you progress, you have the option to add more difficulty and complexity.
- EA Sports Backtrack: replay learning tool that analyzes & breaks down the player's playing ability and points out mistakes during gameplay à la a television-styled telestrator. For advanced players, an extra segment will give more technical info such as play calls that were made and real life success chances.
- EA Rewind: integrated feature with EA Sports Backtracks that give the player a chance to do the play over.
- Handicapping: 2 players with different skill levels can now have a fun, competitive game by using this new system. This allows each user to set a skill level so they can compete head-to-head on the field.
- Fun, accessible family play - An all-new play calling system featuring simplified game controls and playbooks makes NCAA Football 09 the most accessible college football game ever
- Running back combo moves - Set defenders up like never before by stringing together multiple moves, including jukes, spins, and stiff arms.
- All new mascot challenge - Quickly go from a novice or mid-level player to All-American status by improving your skills and technique in a slew of practice drills that Focus on passing, rushing, receiving, and defense.
- Prepare for the big day - See what may or may not work on Saturday by practicing against an opponent's playbook during the week. Fine-tune up to 10 plays on offense in hope of having a greater chance of success when playing against live competition, or practice with Crowd Noise in an effort to replicate the game day atmosphere.
